My child is between the ages of 6 and 17
My child is not allergic to dairy or soy
I live within driving distance to Wolfville or Halifax.
My child is not currently taking any antibiotics
My child does not have HIV/AIDS
My child has not been diagnosed with any of the following: Cancer, Crohn’s disease, and/or Ulcerative colitis or any other serious illness.
My child is not currently undergoing chemotherapy
I have daily access to the internet and a valid email address that I check regularly
Probiotic yogurt (or foods containing it, such as frozen yogurt or yogurt drinks/smoothies) - you will be given a list of yogurt brands that are okay to eat
Kimchi (Kim chee)
Naturally Fermented Sauerkraut
The more expensive brands of uncooked cheese (cheddar, feta, gouda, etc.), including cheese made by Cow’s Dairy in PEI
Cheese products by Aria and Saputo may be eaten during the study, processed cheese slices are also okay to eat
Naturally fermented, unpasteurized tamari and soy sauce
Any other foods that contain probiotics
It is important that your child avoids foods containing probiotics throughout the thirteen-week study period. Foods to avoid for the duration of the study include:
